Solar PV Maintenance Guide template
This guidance was developed as part of direct support provided by the Zero Carbon Accelerator to an NHS Trust, and is intended to help other organisations delivering solar PV installations.
It explains the key principles, methods, and minimum expectations for monitoring and verifying solar PV generation. The guidance is designed to be flexible so it can be used across different types of estates, project sizes, and procurement routes. It also sets out the minimum expectations for routine maintenance, inspections, safety measures, and record‑keeping to ensure solar PV systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently throughout their lifetime. It can be used to shape contract documents, commissioning and handover requirements, and ongoing performance reviews, and can also be applied to existing systems where suitable.
The document is intended to support estates teams, project teams, and contractors in defining clear maintenance responsibilities and consistent ways of working. It is suitable for projects of varying scale and complexity and is designed to sit alongside relevant legislation, British Standards, technical guidance, and manufacturer requirements.
